Marvel Studios is returning to one of the most fascinating corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe: the world of artificial intelligence created around Tony Stark.

The first trailer for VisionQuest brings Paul Bettany back as White Vision, continuing the story left unresolved at the end of WandaVision. However, this is more than another superhero adventure. The series appears ready to explore Vision’s identity, his complicated connection to Ultron and the technological legacy left behind by Iron Man.

For fans who have followed Vision since Avengers: Age of Ultron, the trailer promises a story filled with familiar artificial intelligences, emotional questions and connections to some of the MCU’s most important events.

Vision Is Back — But Is He Still the Same Avenger?

The Vision currently walking through the MCU is not exactly the hero who fought alongside the Avengers.

The original Vision was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Later, S.W.O.R.D. reconstructed his body and activated it as White Vision in WandaVision. Initially sent to destroy Wanda Maximoff and the Vision she had created inside the Hex, White Vision eventually recovered the original Vision’s memories before flying away.

This concept recalls the reality-bending style of WandaVision, where sitcom settings were used to explore Wanda’s grief. Here, the artificial house may serve a similar purpose by transforming Vision’s memories and internal conflicts into something audiences can see.

The difference is that Vision’s struggle is not about escaping a false reality. It is about understanding whether an artificial being can build a real identity from memories, emotions and relationships that belonged to another version of himself.

Could Tommy Maximoff Reunite with Vision?

The trailer also introduces Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd, played by Ruaridh Mollica.

MCU fans will remember Tommy as one of Wanda and Vision’s twin sons in WandaVision. Together with his brother Billy, Tommy disappeared when Wanda brought down the Hex surrounding Westview.

Following Billy’s return in Agatha All Along, Tommy’s appearance creates another important connection to Vision’s lost family. In Marvel Comics, Tommy becomes the speed-powered hero known as Speed and is closely associated with the Young Avengers.

Vision’s history cannot be separated from Wanda, and recovering his memories means remembering their relationship, their children and the life they shared. Nevertheless, the trailer does not confirm an appearance by Elizabeth Olsen.

Even if Wanda does not physically return, her absence is likely to influence the entire story. Vision may remember loving her without being able to experience that love in the same way. That emotional distance could become one of the series’ most powerful conflicts.

Fans should therefore keep their expectations realistic. VisionQuest can continue Wanda and Vision’s story without necessarily providing an immediate reunion.

Tony Stark may not appear in the trailer, but his presence can be felt throughout it.
